As the new millennium commences, more and more research works are coming up showing the nature of 'reality' and the interconnectedness of matter.

Some of these studies explore the relationship between our thoughts and our health. 

Our bodies contain an in-built self-healing mechanism, which is the 'default' mode of operating of the body.

However, when we think thoughts that make us feel bad, a stress hormone (cortisol) is released in the blood, setting the body for a fight-or-flight response, and stopping the self-repair mechanism momentarily.

When we think thoughts that make us feel good, the 'love hormone' (oxytocin) is released in the blood, allowing the self-healing mechanism to operate as needed.

So it makes sense that we use at least some part of our awake time to consciously pay attention to things that make us feel good - especially when it relates to our health.
